Resting on the banks of the Neuse River, the CSS Neuse State Historic Site displays remnants and artifacts from the recovered CSS Neuse, one of only 22 ironclad warships commissioned by the Confederate Navy during the Civil War. A scale model of the vessel is also on site, offering both exterior and interior views of how the warship once looked. The on-site Governor Richard Caswell Memorial commemorates the life of one of Kingston’s most notable residents - North Carolina’s first elected governor, Richard Caswell. This historic site is located west of Kingston, in North Carolina's Inner Banks region.
Open Mon. - Sat. 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Closed Sun.
